A Story of HOPE!

I wanted to share this beautiful story of hope that Anita has so kindly shared with us in a previous post in the comments section.  My desire is that adding this story to a post of its own will get more readers.

Thank you Anita for sharing your story of HOPE!

Soothe Our Sorrow

I am feeling prompted by the Holy Spirit as the first reading at Mass this morning was Samuel hearing the voice of God calling out his name and Fr. Eli telling the child Samuel to let God know that his servant is listening.  So, as the day ends I want to share this special icon of “Our Lady Soothe My Sorrow” with you.  In the Orthodox Church her feast is recognized as January 25, so since this is just 10 days away it will give you a novena of days to say the prayer below.  God bless you and may Our Lady soothe your sorrows.

Prayer

O my All-gracious Queen Theotokos, my hope, who befriends orphans, and intercedes for strangers, Joy of those who sorrow, Protectress of those offended, look upon my troubles and see my sorrow: help me for I am weak, guide me for I am wandering: for you know my offense, resolve it as you will: for I have no other help than you, no other intercessor nor good comforter, only you, O Mother of God, may you keep and protect me, unto ages of ages.  Amen.

A SOLEMN ACT OF CONSECRATION TO THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY

Most Holy Virgin Mary, tender Mother of men, to fulfill the desires of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the request of the Vicar of Your Son on earth, we consecrate ourselves and our families to your Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart, O Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, and we recommend to You, all the people of our country and all the world.

Please accept our consecration, dearest Mother, and use us as You wish to accomplish Your designs in the world.

O Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, and Queen of the World, rule over us, together with the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, Our King. Save us from the spreading flood of modern paganism; kindle in our hearts and homes the love of purity, the practice of a virtuous life, an ardent zeal for souls, and a desire to pray the Rosary more faithfully.

We come with confidence to You, O Throne of Grace and Mother of Fair Love. Inflame us with the same Divine Fire which has inflamed Your own Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart. Make our hearts and homes Your shrine, and through us, make the Heart of Jesus, together with your rule, triumph in every heart and home.  Amen.

Ice Cold, Maybe NOT

This Christmas please pray for those that you know with Infertility, MS and other Autoimmune Diseases, as it keeps us from doing and being what we want to be, an active, motivated wife/husband, mother/father and friend. It may seem that we are frozen and as cold as ice, just because we are quiet and keep to ourselves doesn’t mean we don’t miss our friends. We just learn to accept where we are and who we have become, our total focus is staying as well as we can and praying that it doesn’t affect anyone else.

Sometimes we might seem frozen and cold to those around us, but it’s truly just that we are learning how to deal with what is happening in our own lives.  Our hearts are actually on fire for we are constantly praying for that miracle in our lives and in those around us.  We pray each day of our lives that Our Lord would touch me and heal me, and then I think of you… Isn’t this who we really are?  You are actually more then you think, even if your heart is not blazing there is that little flame that God keeps burning, trust HIM.
To suffer is what this world brings upon us but to be healed is where God wants us to be.  As we learn to unite our cross to HIM we will be healed.  The fire of God must burn in our hearts and our souls, when we ponder our own cross we are not uniting it with Our Lord in the midst of our cross we must think of those who suffer more.  Ask Our Lord to bring people into your life that will understand, as there are many comrades that you will find friendship with.  Our Lord never leaves us alone, just ask and you will receive!

Let God set your hearts on fire this coming NEW YEAR for what HE has planned for your lives.  When you accept HIS will you will find your path and journey changed forever!

Diet Resource…

I have listed the GAPS Diet program in the links at the top of this blog page, why?  Well, I am finding that this diet thing has been very helpful to myself as well as many others that I know.  I’m sure it is not an idea that you’ve never thought about concerning diet and food restrictions, especially if you have had problems with gluten, but I wanted to share the updated article from Dr. Natasha who has her degree as a Neurologist/Neurosurgeon and in dietary nutrition.  Why I want to share it with you is that you will have a great chance in balancing your hormones if you follow this dietary regime, I’m sure of it.  I have seen great benefits in my own health and I am not getting any financial benefit from promoting this site. I just feel that we as baptized Christians owe it to Our Lord to take better care of our body.  So, it’s worth a try isn’t it?  I pray this information will help you, and if you ever need any support concerning this diet or just a prayer of support, please let us know.  God bless and take good care of YOU!

Eastern Feast of Maternity of Anna

Therese did wonderful blog posts about two amazing feast days today: St. Hannah (Hannah’s Tears namesake), and St. Juan Diego.

However, my husband reminded me that today in the Byzantine Catholic calendar, it is the feast of the Maternity of Anna (St. Anne), or the Conception of the Blessed Virgin.

Here is a prayer from Byzantine Matins:

O Adam! O Eve! Lay aside your sorrow!

Behold, a barren womb today wondrously bears fruit:
The Mother of our Joy!

Rejoice, O Father Abraham and all the patriarchs!
See your seed blossom:
The Mother of our God!

Rejoice, O Anna! Rejoice, O Joachim!
Today in a wondrous manner you bear to the world
The fruit of grace and salvation!

Rejoice, O choir of prophets!
Behold, today Anna bears the holy fruit
You foretold to us!

Rejoice, O ye nations!
The barren Anna conceives the fruit of her womb;
By preserving in hope, she bears our life!

Rejoice, O ye ends of the earth!
Behold the barren mother conceives her
Who without human seed will bear the Creator of all!

Today a royal robe of purple and fine linen
Is woven from the loins of David.
The mystical flower of Jessie blossoms
From which comes Christ God, the Savior of our souls!

(From the Matins of the Byzantine Liturgy – December 9th)

[The Icon is the Embrace of Joachim and Anna. This feast celebrates the conception of Mary by Anna and Joachim. This feast is traditionally celebrated on December 9th but has been moved by some Byzantine Churches to December 8th to match the Western feast.]

Happy Feast of Saint Hannah & Saint Juan Diego

Today is the day we celebrate the gifts of 2 holy souls, St. Hannah and St. Juan Diego.  They are truly the main patrons of this ministry as they suffered infertility.  We learn in the Old Testament that we as Christians need to come to the foot of the altar where the sacrifice is made and where graces will flow. Do you recognize the gift that we have been given in that their feast day is the day after the Immaculate Conception?  What is God telling you today?  What does this mean to you?  I think it is something to truly meditate upon on this feast.  Let us open our hearts to this that graces may enter the depths of our saddened minds and hearts to find Jesus and Mary guiding us where we are to go in our time of sorrow let us find the path to Him who knows what He is asking of us.  Pray to accept the call Our Lord has placed in you, as you have not been forgotten but recognized as an individual with purpose.

Saint Juan Diego, infertile, holy and devoted to serving Our Lord as he was called.  I would like to share with you today the post that “Martha Trying to be Mary” has shared with us today concerning St. Juan  and infertility, God did not let his life become fruitless.  This is what our focus should be as we make our journey in this life.  Nothing is empty when we live our lives for Christ, He has something special prepared for us we need to see this with His eyes.

Prayer to St. Juan Diego

You who were chosen by Our Lady of Guadalupe as an instrument to show your people and the world that the way of Christianity is one of love, compassion, understanding, values, sacrifices, repentance of our sins, appreciation and respect for God’s creation, and most of all one of humility and obedience; You whom we know is now in the Kingdom of the Lord and close to our Mother; Be our angel and protect us, stay with us as we struggle in this modern life often not knowing where to set our priorities; Help us to pray to our God to obtain the gifts of the Holy Spirit and use them for the good of humanity and the good of our Church, through the Heart of Our Lady of Guadalupe to the Heart of Jesus. Amen.

This May Help

So, I find myself thinking of you today as I was browsing through this site called gaps.me.  Many of us have been suffering from chronic illness, PMS, and infertility and somehow if you really think about it with the wisdom that God has given us, our diet maybe the answer to healing the problem.  It won’t be easy as I am doing my best to follow this GAPS diet, and oh it’s not easy, but I know in my heart the Holy Spirit dwells within me and I need to take care of ME.  So, this means I had to share it with YOU.  I pray that you will find this information helpful in leading you to GREAT health, in body, mind and soul.

*I have no idea why this is printing in ALL CAPS, as I am not typing this in all caps.  Hmmm….?

Female problems

1. Is PMS a sign of digestive issues? Can the GAPS diet help with common infertility issues such as endometriosis and PCOS? Some women report irregularities and loss of menstruation during die-off. Is this cause for any concern?

2. My doctor recommends that I avoid meat and dairy to help endometriosis, because meat and dairy contain oestrogens. What should I do?

3. Should any precautions be taken when choosing feminine care products?

4. Is it realistic for me to think that GAPS could help my body naturally increase its progesterone level?

5. What do you recommend for bacterial vaginosis that came back after an antibiotic cream given to me by my obstetrician / gynaecologist?

6. You state: ‘it is particularly dangerous to use any personal products in the groin’. Does this mean you do not recommend any internal products during menstruation?

Novena ~ Saint Giuseppe Moscati

The novena to St. Joseph Moscati begins today November 7th – 15th… Celebrate his feast day November 16 by going to Mass and praying for your physician and those in the medical field.  May you be blessed by his prayers and intercession.

“Dear St Joseph Moscati, true model of Christian doctors, in the exercise of your medical profession, you always took care of both the body and soul of every patient.

Look on us, who have recourse to your heavenly intercession, and obtain for us both physical and

spiritual health, and a share in the dispensation of heavenly favors.
Soothe the pains of our suffering people; give comfort to the sick, consolation to the afflicted and hope to the despondent.

May our young people find in you an ideal, our workers an example, the aging a comfort, the dying the hope of eternal salvation.
To all of us be a pattern of industriousness, honesty and charity; so we may comply with our Christian duties and glorify God our Father.”  Amen

Saint Giuseppe Moscati, Saint, Doctor and Miracle Worker

Wow, oh wow!  I was given such a gift on the feast of All Saints and that was being told about a beautiful soul, his name is Giuseppe Moscati.  Faithful Catholic, son, brother, friend,  Doctor, Saint and miracle worker. What I want to share with you is his great gift of intercession just as all the saints in Heaven do but Giuseppe has the gift of interceding for couples hoping to conceive.  When I read this in the article below I just knew I had to share this news with you.

A male intercessor in Heaven that works miracles for couples having difficulty with conception.  I do not know St. Giuseppe that well but I think getting to know him by asking him to intercede in our daily lives for health, faith and strength to follow Our Lord within our great faith is going to be GREAT.

Hope you will join me in getting to know this beloved Saint and Friend Giuseppe Moscati.  What a treasured gift to receive for this ministry on the feast of all Saints.  Wow!

Joseph Moscati

Saint, Doctor, and Miracle-Worker

Michael J. Miller

From the Mar/Apr 2004 Issue of Lay Witness Magazine

Giuseppe Moscati (1880-1927), a physician, medical school professor, and pioneer in the field of biochemistry, was canonized in 1987 during the synod of bishops on the laity. Not often is someone with a professional degree from a modern secular university declared a saint. Moreover, it is positively earth-shattering when an internationally acclaimed scientist becomes a certified miracle-worker.

The Holy Father hinted at the connection between sanctity and miracles in his homily at the canonization of Dr. Moscati: “Holiness is man’s union with God in the power of the Paschal Mystery of Christ, in the power of the Spirit of Truth and Love . . . Love has the power to unite man with God. And this definitive love matures through the various works of charity that a man performs in the course of his life.” While some Christians are suspicious of the claim that good deeds bring us closer to God, we have Christ’s own word for it in the Gospel: “Come, O blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom . . . For I was sick and you visited me” (Mt. 25:31-46).

The life of St. Giuseppe Moscati illustrates how the Catholic faith and practical charity united a layman with God to such an extent that the power of God ultimately worked in and through him.

Giuseppe Moscati was the seventh of nine children born to aristocratic Italian parents. His father’s career as a magistrate (judge) led the family to settle in Naples. Every year they vacationed in the province of Avellino, his father’s native region, and while there they attended Mass at the chapel of the Poor Clare nuns, with the renowned jurist serving at the altar.

The future saint inherited his father’s piety and intellectual gifts. Giuseppe’s unexpected decision to study medicine rather than law can be traced to an incident during his adolescence. In 1893 his older brother Alberto, a lieutenant in the artillery, fell from a horse and sustained incurable head trauma. For years Giuseppe helped care for his injured brother at home, and as he matured he reflected on the limited effectiveness of human remedies and the consoling power of religion.

When Giuseppe Moscati enrolled in medical school in 1897, the University of Naples—with its openly agnostic, amoral, and anti-clerical atmosphere and its secret societies—was a perilous place for a young Catholic. Moscati avoided distractions, studied diligently, continued to practice his faith, and took a doctoral degree with honors in 1903.

Dr. Moscati then practiced medicine at the Hospital for Incurables in Naples and taught courses in general medicine at the university. Soon he became a hospital administrator. He demonstrated extraordinary skill in diagnosing his patients’ ailments; some colleagues attributed this to his ability to synthesize traditional methods with the findings of the new science of biochemistry.

His approach was indeed holistic, but it extended beyond what can be learned in the lecture hall or the laboratory. “Remember,” he once wrote to a young doctor, one of his former students, “that you must treat not only bodies, but also souls, with counsel that appeals to their minds and hearts rather than with cold prescriptions to be sent in to the pharmacist.”

A flock of interns would follow Dr. Moscati while he made his rounds at the hospital, so as to learn his techniques. While dedicating the Church of St. Giuseppe Moscati in the suburbs of Rome in 1993, Pope John Paul II described the doctor’s method: “In addition to the resources of his acclaimed skill, in caring for the sick he used the warmth of his humanity and the witness of his faith.”

Giuseppe Moscati regarded his medical practice as a lay apostolate, a ministry to his suffering fellowmen. Before examining a patient or engaging in research he would place himself in the presence of God. He encouraged his patients, especially those who were about to undergo surgery, to receive the sacraments.

Dr. Moscati also attended to temporal needs. He treated poor patients free of charge, and would often send someone home with an envelope containing a prescription and a 50-lire note.

On occasion he practiced heroic charity. When Mount Vesuvius erupted in April 1906, Dr. Moscati voluntarily helped to evacuate a nursing home in the endangered area, personally moving the frail and infirm patients to safety minutes before the roof of the building collapsed under the ash. He also served beyond the call of duty during the 1911 cholera epidemic and treated approximately 3,000 soldiers during World War I.

“The holy physician of Naples,” as he was called, also made efforts to “humanize” the medical profession as an institution. He was outspoken in his opposition to the unfair practices of nepotism and bribery that often influenced appointments at that time. He might have pursued a brilliant academic career, taken a professorial chair and devoted more time to research, but he preferred to continue working with patients and to train interns.

In another letter to a student, Dr. Moscati wrote, “Not science, but charity has transformed the world,” explaining that only a few go down in history as men of science, but all can leave the world a better place by their charity.

On a Tuesday in 1927, Giuseppe Moscati went to Mass and received Holy Communion (as he did every day) and then made his rounds at the hospital. After a midday meal he felt weary, lay down, and died peacefully. He was not yet 47 years old.

Giuseppe Moscati was beatified in 1975 and declared a saint by Pope John Paul II on October 25, 1987. His feast day is November 16.

The miracle for his canonization was the inexplicable cure of a young man who was dying of leukemia. His mother dreamed of a doctor in a white coat, whom she identified when her pastor showed her a photo of Blessed Giuseppe. Through his intercession, her son was cured and returned to his job as an ironworker. The young man, Giuseppe Fusco, attended the canonization ceremony and presented to the Pope a wrought-iron face of Christ which he had made.

St. Giuseppe Moscati treated thousands during his lifetime, using natural means. Now that he has gone on to his heavenly reward, he continues to have “office hours” and works amazing cures on a regular basis. The Jesuits who staff theChurch of Gesù Nuovo in Naples, where the saint is entombed, post accounts of new medical miracles at their website (www.gesuiti.it/moscati/eng.html). In recent years, St. Giuseppe has cured a young man who ruptured his spleen in a motorcycle accident, restored to health a youngster who, during a severe asthma attack, turned blue and suffered brain damage, and even helped married couples who were having difficulty conceiving a child.

The miraculous power of the holy physician’s intercession in heaven is explained by his conscientious practice of Christian charity while on earth. As he wrote to a colleague, “Only one science is unshakeable and unshaken, the one revealed by God, the science of the hereafter! In all your works, look to Heaven, to the eternity of life and of the soul, and orient yourself then much differently from the way that merely human considerations might suggest, and your activity will be inspired for the good.”

Redbook’s No-Shame Campaign

Passing on the information from Catholic Infertility Bloggers, please continue to support their cause!

Redbook magazine partnered with Resolve and The National Infertility Association to create the no shame campaign called “the truth about trying”. The goal is to bring infertility out in the open and provide women with support. There is going to be an article about infertility in the November issue of Redbook.
There is also an online component with videos and links. I watched some of the videos and it made me cry. Here is the link to the videos. I think that this could really help some women who feel isolated and alone. I was a little disappointed with the support information. I am hoping that they will add more as this grows. They had some links to women’s blogs.
I then checked out the link to  infertility treatments and I was not happy.  The only treatments listed were Clomid, iui, IVF, and egg freezing. So I am going to launch my own campaign here today and I hope you will join me.  Here is a link to the a page about treatments.
I would like to send Redbook magazine a message from those of us who choose not to do IVF. I would like them to know that it is not the only option. If they really want to explore the “truth about trying” then I am hoping that they will include us. I am going to send them an email explaining that there are more treatments available. I am going to ask them to do an article in their magazine about NaproTechnology and other methods such as immune issues. Can you please help me? Would you also send them a request? If you want, you can also include your blog for their blog page. I found the contact information for the editor. Maybe they will ignore us, but maybe if enough of us send a message, they will do a follow up article next month.
If you send something in, please let me know. You can leave a comment or send me an email  Contact ME.
THANK YOU!
